Roshan & Ekta’s Story of Coincidence to a Grand Wedding

Every wedding has its own beautiful love story, some have intimate weddings and carry festive vibes which is an ideal celebration of their union. Such are the stories we love talking about, Roshan & Ekta’s Wedding is one such affair we are head over heels for their wedding that is beautiful in every way possible.

How They Met

Roshan and Ekta, (that’s us!) met by sheer coincidence. We both truly believe that we were at the right place, at the right time. During a trip to Bandung, which is Roshan’s hometown, Ekta met Roshan in a dainty little café. Having a few common friends helped spark a conversation. Later in 2018, we both reconnected in a wedding where Roshan was a groomsman and Ekta was a bridesmaid. In spite of the distance between Jakarta and Bandung, we always seemed to find reasons to see each other and longed to spend more time together.

How They Decided to Get Married

The proposal was intimately special. On 20th December 2020, Roshan took Ekta to a stunning beachside resort called Segarra, where Roshan dropped down on one knee and popped the question, alongside the gorgeous views of the ocean and splendor decoration.

Meeting the families felt natural for both of us. We were equally and warmly welcomed by each other’s families, making the entire wedding planning seamless, despite the pandemic.

We planned a 3day wedding festivities comprising of the following:

Mehendi:

Mehendi took place in the bridal suite in Hotel Westin Jakarta, where all of Ekta’s bridesmaids chilled, played games and reminisced good old times while waiting for the groom to make his entry. The day was casual, laidback and allowed our friends to meet and get to know each other.

Haldi:

Misri & Ghari:

Day 2 started with misri which was the formal engagement ceremony between the two families and close friends. An exchange of rings and garlands took place before proceeding for both gharis, which was the ceremonial prayer to pray for bride and groom.

Pheras & Reception:

The pheras took place in the outdoors under the backdrop of a clear, blue sky. We took the seven rounds around the sacred fire as we made our vows to each other. Later on, the reception took place with performances from both sides of the family.

The theme of the entire event was fairy tale; hence all the décor and details focused on pastels and pretty flowers.

TIPS They Want to Give You

Our advice to future brides and grooms; whilst planning a wedding, a key tip is to communicate with each other. No matter how outrageous something might be, talk it out to your partner. Knowing each other’s likes and dislikes, and loving them, all the same is a foundation for a happy marriage. Even if you end up liking different things, the practice of finding a common ground allows you room to grow as a human being. Stay calm, composed, and communicate. You never know, the other end may just as well be as crazy!

Our hearts were set on The Westin Jakarta for several reasons. Most importantly, in the middle of the pandemic, it was important to keep our guests safe, and safety protocols had to be implemented without compromise. We found this hotel adhered wonderfully and this was our primary motivation to opt for them. Additionally, they had an outdoor location that stands far above Jakarta’s other skyscrapers, making it a stunning location to oversee the Jakarta skyline.
