Wedding Tale of Anamika & Charan in Punjabi & Rajasthani Rituals

In a world of Fairytale Weddings, there will be another section for all the Pandemic Weddings with the intimacy of close ones.  This wedding tale is about Anamika & Charan whose story began during an official training in Dehradun.  A message on the new year opened up a new realm in their casual acquaintance. A conversation that just began refused to have an end and thus turned into a lifetime of journey.

How They Met  We met at official training in Dehradun. But we didn’t talk to each other for two months in that training. It was me who messaged him on the new year almost after 6 months, and by the evening we were talking like old friends. We kept talking through WhatsApp and call for 5-6 years and became best friends. Two years back during one of these calls, he tried to talk about taking our friendship to the next stage but I kept on avoid it as intercaste was a big no in my family. But how long you can ignore a connection like this and the rest is history!!

How did they Convinced their Family for Marriage

Although It wasn’t a smooth ride as he is a Punjabi and I belong to a traditional Rajasthani family where no one dared to do love marriage. But we didn’t lose hope and kept trying and ultimately our parents agreed last year. But boom! Corona came and we couldn’t go forward with the wedding.

How they decided to Get Married

Finally, things got a little better and Feb 16 was the date finalized for our marriage. Due to the pandemic, we turned the wedding into an intimate ceremony of 150 people. We have lots of common friends and a big group so it was a whole lot of fun wedding with lots of friends.  We had two wedding ceremony one was the Rajasthani Hindu wedding on 16th Feb and another was the Sikh gurudwara wedding on 17th morning.

About their Wedding Festivities

Mehendi: On 14th I had a small lagan ceremony in the morning and a Mehendi ceremony in the evening.

Haldi: On the 15th I had a Haldi ceremony in the morning and Sangeet in which we danced throughout the day and it went till 1 a.m.

Rajasthani Wedding: On the 16th evening, we had our Rajasthani-style wedding with lots of rituals but we insisted on keeping the phera in the evening so all our friends were there singing and teasing us in Mandap. After that, we danced like crazy on the dance floor as I had a Punjabi Barat and a Punjabi wedding is incomplete without dance.

BTS: At the last minute my decorator ditched the wedding and I was left with no decoration on the day of the wedding. Then my sister and my friends came to the rescue and they managed to decorate the whole farm with lights and real flowers. The guest who came during the wedding didn’t even notice something was amiss.

Punjabi Wedding: On the 17th we had an intimate Gurudwara wedding where we wore the coordinated outfit in baby blue color designed by Posh Petal Studio. It was so peaceful and from my side of the family, it was the first time when anyone attended a Gurudwara but it went so smoothly, and how we loved it.

TIPS They Want to Give You The only tip I can give to the upcoming marriage that, have it with your very intimate family and friends. You will enjoy it and it will turn into a fun event with your loved ones. Also, don’t go for decorators who make false promises. They hàve the potential to ruin the whole wedding but remember it is all about getting married to each other and that’s what matters.

The Wedding Vendors:

Bride’s Outfit: Alluring You Label

As it was corona times and I couldn’t go to market frequently, I took the help of an online brand Alluring You Label. They curated all of my wedding ceremonies’ looks. I wanted to go for a bright tone and twirling lehenga for my bridal wardrobe. They designed outfits for my bridesmaids also. Couldn’t be happier with my outfits, my absolute dream dresses were brought to reality! I didn’t want to get out of them!

Groom’s Outfit: Posh Petals by Lucky Arora

Charan’s outfit was designed by Posh Petal Studio. He wanted a royal look for both days but not in darker hues. He was looking like a king in his Barat with a pink safa. A true Punjabi groom.

Bridal Jewelry: Alluring You Label

For my bridal jewelry, I didn’t want to go over the top and wanted something classic. So I went for gold and Kundan jewelry curated by Alluring You Label. It suited me perfectly and enhanced my look.

Make-Up Artist: Eshita Makeup Artist, Delhi

For my make-up, I knew exactly the look that I wanted. It had to be classic glam but not overdone. It was really important for me to be comfortable in my skin and for it to last through long function. And she gave me exactly that.

Wedding Venue

Due to the Corona Pandemic, we held the wedding at my dad’s friend’s private farm which was full of lush green trees and spacious enough to accommodate our friends and family.

Photographer: Plush Affairs

Apoorv and his team were so good at capturing memories. They did a great job at making us feel comfortable and made us fully enjoy all the wedding festivities while capturing some great shots all the way. They have given me memories to cherish a lifetime.
