Every wedding embodies a unique and beautiful love story, and Nishi and Sahil’s wedding narrative is no exception. Their journey is characterized by genuine affection and the sweet bond shared between their families. However, amidst the joyous celebration, a poignant moment arose as Nishi’s father was hospitalized on her big day. Despite this challenge, Sahil’s unwavering support and thoughtful handling of the situation ensured that the wedding proceeded smoothly. Ultimately, their wedding concluded on a note of happiness and fulfillment, underscoring the resilience of their love and the strength of their bond.
How They Met
Sahil Jhaveri, my husband, is a jewelry designer and manufacturer, and his brand is named Shanzay. I am Nishi Jain, an interior designer, and the founder of Tailor Your Home. We were introduced by a common friend, leading to our first date, which extended for hours until the restaurant staff had to inform us of its closing time.
We had so much in common and our connection felt genuine. From there, Sahil and I would talk for hours on the phone and would meet almost daily for dinners, coffee, and drives. We became so comfortable with each other, feeling as if we had known one another for years. It’s often said that meeting your soulmate results in a swift and magical unfolding of events, and in our case, that proved undeniably true.
Sahil won my heart with many cute and romantic gestures. One memorable day, he took me to Machan, nestled in the middle of a forest, knowing my love for nature. There, he romantically asked me to date him, to which I joyfully said yes.
A few months into our relationship, we decided to go to Andaman to pursue our scuba diving training. Sahil meticulously planned the entire trip, seeking permission from my parents, and during our time there, he proposed to me on a private beach under the stars, with the beautiful ocean before us. The setting was like a fairytale, just the two of us, surrounded by candles, champagne, and cheese—an utterly perfect moment straight out of a romantic movie. It was a magical experience filled with love.
How They Decided to Get Married
A few months after our proposal, we hosted a sundowner engagement party on the 3rd of July, 2022, inviting all our close friends and family members to celebrate our togetherness. The event was filled with joy and laughter as both sides of our families and friends came together. It held special significance for Sahil and me, creating cherished memories with an abundance of love.
When our parents met right after the proposal, it was remarkably easy and sweet, as they formed a close bond. Their relationship transcended formality and evolved into a friendship. To this day, they remain exceptionally close. Sahil’s father talks daily to my father on the phone, more than I talk to my father. It’s very cute. The happiness for us was palpable, and everyone believed we were the perfect match, complementing each other in the best possible way. Sahil and his family filled the part of my life that was missing, and vice versa, bringing a sense of completeness.
During the wedding planning process, my parents and Sahil’s parents seamlessly merged into one team. They were always in sync, sharing the same thoughts and emotions. It brings me immense joy to witness their strong bond. The entire journey of planning the wedding was special and intimate, centered around what our family wanted rather than conforming to external expectations.
Sangeet
The wedding functions started with our sangeet, featuring dance performances, a vibrant DJ, and an exceptional team of bartenders who did an excellent job in getting very intoxicated. Sahil and I made a lively entrance on a Punjabi track, dancing with Dhol walas, and our friends joined us in the celebration. Following our grand entry, we proceeded with dance performances. Sahil’s love for dancing was evident in his energetic performances, where he danced in six out of eleven acts, earning him praise and the nickname “Hrithik” for his exceptional skills. Our performance was cute and romantic, as we danced to Kesariya, leaving the audience moved to tears. The sangeet continued until the morning, with everyone enjoying a great time with DJ AJ.
Mehendi & Haldi
The next day, we celebrated our mehendi and haldi function at Estella, creating a sundowner vibe against the beautiful backdrop of the sunset and ocean. To make the haldi function more fun, we opted for a “pool” ki haldi, a flower shower haldi, where close friends and family showered us with flowers instead of haldi. The event included fun games, questions about us, speeches from siblings, and a sparklers toast, creating a memorable and enjoyable night.
Wedding Day
Then came the much-anticipated wedding day, the most special day of my life. I had always dreamt of a fairytale wedding, and my papa made sure it came true. I got into every minute detail of the wedding event as I wanted it to be just like how I always pictured it in my mind while watching romantic movies. The decor of the mandap was all white with pastel flowers to make it look dreamy.
The day started with a lot of grief as the day prior at my mehendi function my papa got a mild heart attack and he had to be admitted to the hospital immediately. With God’s grace as we admitted him on time he was cured but the saddest part was that he could not come to my wedding the next day. I was crying all night as I didn’t want to get married without my papa being next to me. He had dreamed of this day since was a little girl and he put his heart and soul into the wedding planning to ensure it was like how I have always wanted and all his efforts were shown on the day of the wedding from the decor to the catering to everything.
It was extremely sad and disheartening for my entire family to go through this day without the most important family member. Till the time I was getting ready, I was really sad and upset with swollen eyes but when I walked down the aisle and I was Sahil with the biggest and cutest smile staring at me, I couldn’t stop smiling either. I had such a big smile on my face which I couldn’t control as I was marrying my best friend and that feeling was just filled with so much joy and love.
One year into the marriage Sahil still makes my heart smile that big. At the wedding ceremony, I was only laughing because Sahil was cracking jokes to make me laugh and see that smile on my face. I didn’t have any glitters or any nervousness but only excitement because I knew I was making the best choice.
After the wedding ceremony, we had our entry with our friends holding cold pyros to our favorite song followed by our first dance. We then kept a sit-down dinner with close friends and family members with each of them giving a personal speech keeping it super close and intimate. The perfect end to the wedding where we wanted our close friends and family to sit down and enjoy a lavish spread of meal after 2 days of dancing and chaos.
TIPS They Want to Give You
I believe that during the wedding planning process, both the bride, groom and their families often become so stressed and overwhelmed that they forget to enjoy themselves, which, in my opinion, shouldn’t be the case. Your wedding day is the most special day of your life, and It’s essential to have fun and minimize stress.
No Wedding can be Flawlessly Planned without any hitches, so it’s not worth getting overly stressed during the Process. Witnessing my father experience a heart attack on our wedding day due to stress made me realize the importance of avoiding such situations. I advocate for having fun and letting go of the planning stress when you’re at the event. Weddings should be all about love and having fun and that’s what makes it special from any other day.

The scenic beauty, combined with our carefully curated decor. Created perfect and visually stunning ambiance for our special day.
Bride Sangeet Outfit: Falguni Shane Peacock
Bride Wedding Outfit: Tarun Tahilani
Groom Wedding Outfit: Kunal Rawal
When I visited the stores to find the ideal attire for my wedding and sangeet, I tried on an outfit at Tarun, and it felt like the perfect choice for me. The colors suited me exceptionally well, and the intricate detailing of the work fascinated me. I was certain about wanting an ivory-colored outfit, and I loved how the color complimented me. Trying it at Tarun confirmed that it was the one. Similarly, for the sangeet outfit, I chose a design from Falguni Shane Peacock. The outfit featured a range of pink shades with a chrome finish. I appreciated that the outfit was lightweight since I knew I had to dance during the sangeet. Having something light and comfortable was crucial for me to enjoy dancing.
The service I received from both designers was exceptional, adding an extra layer of excellence to my special day.
Sahil’s outfit selected by the designer Kunal Rawal, was a fantastic choice. It looked stunning on him, accentuating his lean physique with the perfect fit. Sahil prefers subtle designs without excessive flashiness, and Kunal Rawal’s creation struck the right balance, adding a touch of elegance in a restrained manner.
